REVIEW by Lorna: And With Madness Comes The Light (Experiment in Terror #6.5) by Karina Halle (@MetalBlonde , @Mollykatie112)

The Man. The Mystery. The Madness.

Dex Foray has never been anyone’s fool – until he missed his chance for happiness with Perry Palomino. Broken and alone, Dex has no choice but to rise from the ashes Perry left behind and find his own path to redemption. But nothing in Dex’s life has ever come easily, especially when there’s a dark madness waiting in the wings.

Told from Dex’s POV, And With Madness Comes the Light is short story/novella that spans the time period from the end of Lying Season (Book #4) until the end of On Demon Wings (Book #5). If you were ever wondering what really happened to Dex while Perry was gone – his journey to Dex 2.0 – now is your chance.

*****WARNING***** This novella is not a standalone and contains spoilers for Experiment in Terror Books #1-5. It also contains harsh language and scenes of a sexual nature*******

AWM.v2-Final

So I was smack in the middle of a really good book yesterday, when I realized that Karina Halle’s new novella had been released. Usually I am up on things better then that especially when it involves one of my favorite authors! That being said, I had to buy it and put the other book down.
This novella bridges the end of The Lying Season to On Demon Wings. If you have not yet read those two books, this is your warning-spoilers coming.  It is told from Dex’s point of view. After Perry leaves Dex in Seattle and goes back home to Portland, Dex spirals down about as far as he can go. He knows he has just totally screwed up the best relationship/love/friendship, he has ever had.  While Perry is totally lost, confused and heartbroken and oh yeah, possessed by a demon, Dex is no longer lost concerning how much he loves Perry-but he is lost in his life. A total wreck. It’s up to Rebecca to help pull him out of his stupor. And when Ada,(Perry’s little sister) calls Dex and lets him know what’s up with Perry, Dex knows that only he can rescue her. I absolutely love  the Experiment in Terror books. I always get so involved in these,to the point I can’t put them down. It certainly was a quick easy read. My only criticism would be that it wasn’t long enough. I know that’s what a novella is supposed to be(short) but still! You don’t have to read this book to enjoy the series, but if you love Dex like I do, I certainly would recommend this novella to you.
5 stars as always with this authors work.
