Curtis Aisling has literally dodged a bullet. At least he thinks he has. But he wonders whether that bullet still has it out for him when he leaves his ex-fiancé and Los Angeles behind for Coronado, New Mexico to borrow some much-needed money from his sister.
The small dilapidated desert town of Coronado has exactly one mansion, belonging to 92-year-old Veronica Meeks. Curtis’s sister, Dia, and her partner, Araceli, are Veronica’s live-in caretakers and while they are delighted to have a visitor, Veronica doesn’t even know he’s there. In the final stages of what the locals call “the reminisce,” she is no longer aware of her surroundings. But when Curtis starts seeing things that no one else does, he’s not convinced that the old, unresponsive woman is as disconnected as everyone thinks.
At times what should be empty rooms within the huge house appear filled with furniture, and music emanates from a dusty radio that has been packed away for ages. Tales of Veronica’s associations and connections with the occult lead Curtis to believe she is causing the ghostly occurrences. But when people begin to appear in those phantom rooms—people from her past including Veronica herself—he’s no longer certain it is her doing.
Each vision pulls Curtis further and further back, each one detailing a consequential moment in Veronica’s long life, until he begins to fear he could become lost in her past.
And then there’s that bullet…

Word has spread across all the nations that the prophesied Lacáruna has arrived to initiate the next expansion of this world. Although Amy Darlidale has passed tests of wits and endurance far beyond what she imagined possible, she struggles for insight into the role she is presumably intended to play in the fate of this world.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that an all-out war is being waged by opposing factions—the Arañalianza, bent on making certain that the prophecy is never brought to pass, and the Trotéjo, sworn to make certain it does. A new Trotéjo comrade, isolated for too long to provide any meaningful direction but notably dedicated to the cause, pushes Amy and her band of protectors forward in the search for more clues.
As the range of the powers of Lacáruna continue to manifest, Amy is no longer the only one seeing visions. But nothing in her imagination can prepare her for coming face to face with the greatest nemesis of all.

When she was found barely coherent and staggering over sand dunes, word spread fast that the prophecy had finally come to pass and Lacáruna had been delivered to initiate the next expansion of this world. The trouble is Lacáruna has been removed from the world she’s intended to expand. Amy Darlidale must return to her mission before any harm can come to her friends. Fortunately, she knows the way back and, unlike the first time Amy found herself under a full moon in a starless sky, she knows what she’s up against.
In order to fulfill the Promise of a New Morphósis Amy understands that the actual prophecy has to be found, but the sense of order in this mysterious world continues to collapse. Fires rage, clans are being slaughtered and townsfolk massacred, and leaders have proclaimed a great evil has returned. Licha and Jandro, the young companions who have been with her from the start, along with the Trotéjo comrades who have sworn to protect her—Dack, who has saved her life more than once, and their new ally Sheng, a Palace Guard who has joined their quest, continue pushing forward as their obstacles multiply. Unsure what answers might be found in the first mythic journals of this world’s origins, Amy searches for clues.
But secretly she’s begun seeing visions and receiving messages from forces unknown. As she tries to understand the extent of her power others are becoming aware of it as well. Soon a new group with its own mysterious agenda believes Amy may have another fated purpose and only she can save herself from their terrifying trap.

When she was found barely coherent and staggering over sand dunes, word spread fast that the prophecy had finally come to pass and Lacáruna had been delivered to initiate the next expansion of this world. The trouble is no one seems to understand how. Neither does Lacáruna: Amy Darlidale, though a CEO back in her world, is way out of her league, has a price on her head, and really could use a relaxing soak in a tub.
Along with the young companions who found her, Licha and Jandro, Amy has accompanied the swaggering Colonel Dack Sangcertigre—a member of the Trotéjo, the secret society sworn to protect her—to his home nation in search of a plan to fulfill the Promise of a New Morphósis. But when Dack is taken into custody Amy is left to fend for herself. As the body count rises and she is confronted with raving rulers, military machinations, and crafty clergy, she quickly realizes there must be much more at stake than merely finding the prophecy.
Despite dark clouds that seem to follow her and the maddening peculiarities of an unfamiliar world, Amy is determined to succeed. And, since she hasn’t a clue as to how she might return to her world, there really is no other choice. A firm believer of jumping into the fire, Amy is forced to put her trust in her small core of devotees as they struggle to push forward through unidentified destructive forces.

300 years ago, in a nameless world, a prophecy passed unfulfilled. A secret society that formed to prevent its occurrence believed it was their doing, while the secret society created to ensure that the prophecy came to pass wasn’t certain it had been stopped at all. Eventually, along with the mythology of time prior to the great Lizard Queen’s expansion of this world, the prophecy of Lacáruna fell into legend.
Split among three nations, nine ancient books hold the key to this world’s creation but no one has the ability to read them. And many have come to believe the world is shrinking. The indications are there—nations’ leaders falling ill, swamps drying, militaries gathering—that is, if those signs are being interpreted correctly. No one knows because the prophesied Lacáruna, a female from another realm and the only being who can read the Lizard Queen’s language, never arrived.
What they don’t realize is that Amy Darlidale is just a tad late.
Taking a break from a stressful workweek, Amy, recently divorced CEO, drives out to her desert getaway. While on a morning jog she crosses paths with an orange lizard and, on a whim, chases it into a field. Suddenly, she finds herself under a starless sky confronted by oddly marked and strangely colored people who claim she’s there to rescue the world from evil’s grasp and expand it once again. But not everyone wants that to happen so there’s a price on her head.
This is far from the relaxing weekend Amy had intended.
